Introduction

Screenshot to Social ("the Extension") is a browser-based image formatting tool that helps you turn any screenshot into a polished social media post. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it's used, and what we do (and don't do) with it.

Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal data. The Extension does not gather your name, email address, IP address, browsing history, or any other personally identifiable information.

The Extension does not access, upload, or transmit the images you format. All image processing — including template rendering, watermarking, auto-detection, and exporting — happens entirely within your browser using the native HTML Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.

Local Storage

The Extension uses Chrome's built-in storage APIs (chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.sync) to save a small amount of non-personal settings data on your device:

• Daily usage count — tracks how many free exports you've used today (resets at midnight UTC).
• Saved presets and favorites — your custom template configurations and favorite template selections.
• Pro status — whether you've upgraded to the Pro plan.
• Preferences — onboarding state, last-used settings.

This data is stored locally on your device (or synced across your Chrome browsers via your Google account if you use chrome.storage.sync). We cannot access, read, or retrieve this data.

Permissions Explained

The Extension requests these Chrome permissions:

• contextMenus — to add "Format for Social" to the right-click menu on images.
• storage — to save your preferences and usage count locally.
• activeTab — to capture the image you right-clicked for formatting.
• host_permissions (<all_urls>) — required so the Extension can capture images from any webpage you visit. No browsing data is collected or transmitted.

Third-Party Services

The Extension itself contains no analytics, tracking scripts, or third-party services. No data is sent to Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking platform.

If you choose to upgrade to Pro, the payment is handled by Stripe on our website (screenshottosocial.com), not within the Extension. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to that transaction. We receive only your payment status — not your card details.

Watermark & Branding

Free-tier exports include a small, semi-transparent watermark in the corner of the formatted image reading "screenshottosocial.com". This watermark is part of the rendered image — it is not a tracking mechanism and contains no identifying information. Pro users can remove the watermark.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, trade, or transfer your data to any third party. Since we don't collect data, there is nothing to share.

User Rights

You can clear all Extension data at any time by:

• Going to chrome://extensions, finding Screenshot to Social, and clicking "Remove".
• Or right-clicking the extension icon, selecting "Manage Extension", then "Clear data".

Since no data is stored on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.

Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
